Recipe: Immune-boosting porridge

With a piping hot bowl of nutritious porridge cupped in your hands, winter mornings are so much easier to bear.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup sultanas
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts

Method

Boil the water in a saucepan.

Add the sea salt, then mix in the rolled oats

Turn the heat down low and cook for 5 minutes, stirring regularly

Add the cinnamon, sultanas and chopped walnuts. Give it a good stir and remove pan from the heat.

Allow your porridge to stand for 5 minutes

Serving suggestion: add a lick of honey, a dash of milk (skim, if you prefer) and top with freshly sliced fruit.
